In a text message, DFA spokesperson Claro Cristobal on Monday told GMANews.TV that the Filipino seamen would arrive in the Philippines on Tuesday via Gulf Air GF-156 at 4:40 p.m.

Cristobal identified the Filipinos as Frederick Reyes, 33, of Pangasinan; Gino Titus Dario, 45, of Quezon City; Teotimo Trovela, 45, of Iloilo; Mark John Manuel, 27, of Bataan; and Chivas Regal Collado, 30, of Makati City.

The five seamen were among the crew members released by pirates in Somalia on June 25, a month after MV Amiya Scan was reported hijacked.

The ship, chartered by Danish firm Scan-Trans Shipping, sailed under a Panamanian flag of convenience. The vessel left Kenya on May 19, and was heading for Romania when it was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden.

Spokesman Lars Walder earlier said the ship’s crew of four Russians and five Filipinos were unharmed. - Mark Joseph Ubalde, GMANews.TV
