POEA: Australia doesn't need helpers, farm workers
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine agency responsible for the employment of Filipinos abroad warned aspiring workers against illegal recruiters who promise jobs as farm and domestic workers in Australia.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) announced on its Web site that there are no job openings for household workers and farmers in the ‘land down under.’
According to the POEA, "while there are many opportunities for skilled and professional workers in that country, many unscrupulous recruiters offer domestic and farm jobs that are non-existent."
The agency reminds Filipinos who want to work in Australia to always check with the POEA first, before applying for employment in the said country. - GMANews.TV
