60 distressed OFWs from Kuwait narrate employers' abuses
At least 60 distressed overseas Filipino workers ended their nightmare in Kuwait as they finally arrived home in Manila early Monday morning.
The OFWs arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 at 6:30 a.m. aboard an Emirates flight, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.
One of them, Rakma Akmad of Cotabato, narrated that her employer confiscated her travel documents and did not allow her to go home even when she got very sick.
Many of the other OFWs complained they suffered physical abuse at the hands of their employers.
Some of the OFWs were to be brought to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration's halfway house in Pasay City, the same radio report said.
OWWA duty officer Michael Fajardo was quoted in the report as saying the OFWs will be subjected to medical tests.
He added the OWWA will help them get to their home provinces. — RSJ, GMA News
