MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE - 2:25 p.m.) With less than four months to go before the May midterm elections, only three out of 10 Filipinos have drawn up a complete list of their senatorial picks, the results of a Pulse Asia survey released Friday showed.

Only 34 percent of respondents said they had a complete senatorial slate while 8.6 percent said they do not support any of the candidates.

Senators Loren Legarda, who was chosen by 58 percent of respondents, and Francis "Chiz" Escudero, who got the nod of 54.3 percent, remained in the lead of the senatorial race, according to the survey.

Both are seeking reelection.

In third place was Senator Alan Peter Cayteno, with 48.9 percent of respondents supporting his bid for re-election.

Completing the top 12 are:

4th to 9th: Nancy Binay (43.6 percent) and JV Ejercito (43.5 percent)
4th to 12th: Antonio Trillanes IV (41.1 percent), Aquilino Pimentel III (40.7 percent), Juan Ponce Enrile Jr. (40.4 percent), Cynthia Villar (39.1 percent)
6th to 12th: Miguel Zubiri (37.6 percent), Edgardo "Sonny" Angara (37.1 percent), Gringo Honasan (36.8 percent)

Statistically tied for 13th to 16th places are Team Pinoy’s Bam Aquino, Independent Grace Poe and UNA’s Dick Gordon.

Reacting to the survey, Escudero said he was "happy and humbled by the continued confidence by the people, but what is important is that public servants seeking the people’s vote like me continue to work to prove that we are worthy of the positions entrusted to us."

The survey was conducted from January 19 to 30 among 1,800 registered voters and had an error margin of +/-2 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.

Major issues at the time of the survey included the grounding of the USS Guardian At Tubbataha Reef, the suspension of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia, the failure of the House of Representatives to open floor debates on their version of the Freedom of Information bill, and the botched deportation to the country of pyramid scam suspect Manuel Amalilio, among others.
