Pinay cook in hot water for alleged human trafficking in UAE

A Filipina cook is in hot water for her alleged involvement in human trafficking and prostitution activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 30-year-old cook faced a court where she was charged for human trafficking and forcing another Filipina into prostitution, the news site Khaleej Times reported on Wednesday.

The alleged Filipina victim said the cook promised her a job but forced her into prostitution, and took her to a flat in Satwa.

She said the cook threatened to kill her if she did not work as a prostitute.

However, she managed to escape after working for three days, and sought help from the Philippine Embassy, which in turn informed police.

The police raided the flat and arrested the cook and the two other accused, who allegedly worked willingly as prostitutes. The two other women face charges of indulging in prostitution.

Meanwhile, the cook was also accused of facilitating prostitution for two more Filipinas aged 27 and 35, the report added.
