DFA appeals anew to Pinoys in Yemen to go home
The Philippine government on Thursday reiterated its appeal to the remaining Filipinos in Yemen to leave the area “as soon as possible.”
“In view of the continued deterioration of the political, security and peace and order situation in Yemen, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh would like to reiterate its advice to all Filipinos to leave Yemen as soon as possible,” the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement.
It noted that Alert Level 3, which mandates voluntary repatration, is still in effect in Yemen, which has been in turmoil since 2011 when pro-democracy protests forced long-ruling President Ali Abdullah Saleh to step down.
Just this December, a senior Yemeni intelligence officer was shot dead by militants suspected to be linked to al Qaeda, while an army general escaped a separate ambush in eastern Yemen.
The DFA said Filipinos who want to be repatriated may contact the Crisis Management Team or the Philippine Consulate in the capital city of Sana'a through the following details:

The DFA has imposed a total deployment ban on Yemen, barring all tourists and workers from going there.
Filipinos in all cities and regions of Yemen are urged to update their registration with the Embassy through its official website, www.philembassy-riyadh.org.
