A Filipino nursing assistant in California is in hot water after he allegedly stole from his two elderly patients at a nursing home in Glendora.

report on San Gabriel Valley Tribune said Maui Berganio, 29, was arrested on February 26 for taking debit card and account information from two of his patients at Kindred Transitional Care and using them for online transactions.

He was reported by one of his patients, an elderly woman aged 80 years old, last January 8 after she woke to find him kneeling by her bedside.

Glendora police detective Zach Houser said Berganio took the woman's debit card information and used it in numerous online transactions “totaling over $8,000.”
