OWWA-CAR participated in the Inter Agency Forum
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration,  Cordillera Administrative Region participated in the Inter Agency forum for OFW Concern on May 12, 2015 at Multi-Purpose Hall, City Hall,Baguio City.
 
The program was initiated by the Global Filipino Movement (GFM) in partnership with the Pastol ng Panginoon-Moral and Spiritual Transformation (PNP-MOST Cordillera-Baguio). The Global Filipino Movement is a church based and non-stock organization registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission to mobilize churches and communities towards assisting and educating OFWs and their families in relation to the programs of the government accessible to them. They were able to visit several Local Government Units for the promotion of their advocacy in campaigning OFW concerns and Migration realities. Also, on how to avail for the programs and services of the various  partner government agencies like in the  Cordillera Administrative Region such as Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE),Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC),PHIL HEALTH, PAG-IBIGwho were among the invited guest and participants of the said forum.
 
The invited Guest Speakers including that from OWWA – RWO CAR, OIC for Programs and Services Division, Mr. Isaac Anthony B. Basil, were able to present their respective programs and services in line with the available benefits and assistance to support and sustain the needs of every OFW’s and their dependents in accessing or availing for the services of the government. As per surveys made by the GFM, OFWs were not aware of the programs and services as it leads to deter them in accessing such programs. The participants were relieved and enlightened to the services as they were able to raise and inquire their respective concerns at the open forum. The participants were aided with positive responses from the Guests Speakers in handling problems and possible remedies in handling OFW concerns.
 
The various partner government agencies including the Local Government of Baguio as represented by Mr. Edison Bilog (Vice Mayor of Baguio) has committed their support to the advocacy of GFM and to the OFW participants to remain a lifelong partner for the provision of effective service, delivery and implementation of every programs towards the protection and welfare of every Overseas Filipino Workers.  

Pastor. Rene Bunsoy, a former OFW for 3 years, member of the Global Filipino Movement tackles  the rationale of Inter –agency forum and emphasized the advocacy of the movement in partnership with the various government agencies.

Mr. Isaac Anthony B. Basil (OWWA-CAR) discussed the three stages of employment, its significance, and OWWA benefits. Mr. Basil also presented  the common problems encountered by OFWs overseas and the remedies and actions which may be undertaken in assisting the welfare of OFW’s at post and in country.

Participating government agencies include DOLE, OWWA, POEA, Local Government of Baguio, NLRC, PhilHealth, and Pag-Ibig.   Also present were NGO’s catering for the welfare of the OFW’s.
