PODOs’ Office Productivity Skills Enhanced
Koronadal City – On May 14-15, 2015, a total of forty one (41) Public OFW Desk Officers (PODO) from all over the SOCCSKSARGEN region participated in the Office Productivity Enhancement Workshop spearheaded by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office XII (OWWA RWO XII) held at Microtel, Valley High, National Highway, General Santos City.
OIC, Regional Director Marilou M. Sumalinog initiated the conceptualization of the training to provide enhancement in the skills of all Public OFW Desk Officers (PODOs) particularly in the field of Information and Technology.
Fundamental skills in Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, and Internet applications were introduced to reinforce the competencies of the participants in using office productivity tools and the World Wide Web that is perceived to be essential and necessary in the delivery of the agency’s programs and services.

Participants imitate some techniques in using a word processing application demonstrated by the resource speaker.
According to Sumalinog trainings as such does not only improve the work efficiency of the SOCCSKSARGEN PODOs who serve as the agency’s voice in the ground, but exhibit the sincerity of the OWWA in establishing a strong link with its social partners as well.
Through the years, we were able to deliver the programs and services of the agency right at the clientele’s doorstep in partnership with the Local Government Units (LGU)”, Sumalinog said.
And it’s just overwhelming to know that through a period of time that we had been working hand in hand, our relationship keeps getting stronger and stronger, and the level of cooperation and response gets higher as well”, she added.
Following the workshop was a fellowship night filled with fun, surprises, and entertainment enjoyed by the participants. A joyous uproar covered the entire training hall as PODOs compete in Pinoy Henyo, Blow Job, and other thrilling games prepared by OWWA RWO XII staff.
During the culmination activity, some PODOs gave their impression on the workshop and extended their gratitude to the agency. Annie F. Roca, PODO-Designate of the Municipality of Tampakan said the learning she has acquired in the training was really of great help. “The techniques that were introduced are worth remembering as it would help me speed up my work”, she added.
Further, Beverly P. Yu, PODO-Designate of the Municipality of Pigcawayan was awarded with a certificate of achievement in recognition of her active participation in the discussion and excellent performance in the laboratory exercises conducted in the 2-day training.
As of this writing, another capability building activity for PODOs is set to be conducted in Kidapawan City some time in August 2015.
