RWO XII Orients Scholarship Qualifiers, SOCCSKSARGEN
Koronadal City – A total of fifty six (56) qualifiers of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office XII’s (OWWA RWO XII) OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (OFWDSP) appeared on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 for the Scholarship Orientation and Contract Signing Ceremony held at EMR Center, Koronadal City.

Scholarship qualifiers coming from all over the SOCCSKSARGEN region together with their guardians, that totaled 112, braved the heavy pouring rain just to join the activity and avail the scholarship opportunity offered by the agency.

Local media personalities also graced the activity after participating in the press conference conducted on the same day and venue to highlight the scholarship contract signing ceremony and meet with the RWO’s Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) qualifiers.

According to the RWO’s OIC, Regional Director Marilou M. Sumalinog, qualifiers of the OFWDSP although did not took any qualifying examination, were carefully and thoroughly selected taking into consideration all possible grounds of qualification particularly the General Weighted Average (GWA) of the applicants.

We are setting a standard to ensure that our program will truly serve its purpose. And hopefully, four or five years from now, with our support, and with your guardians guidance, you will finish your chosen course with flying colors”, Sumalinog said addressed to the scholars.

Vincent Benedict Barrion, John Adrian Golveo, and Hannah Castillano, EDSP qualifiers also joined the activity and were given due recognition by Sumalinog, emphasizing their outstanding achievements in their high school years to inspire other qualifiers to study hard and take the scholarship opportunity sincerely in exchange of their loved ones’ efforts and sacrifices overseas.

In a message Barrion shared that everyone must believe they’re the best so others would also treat them as the best. “Always follow your dreams, believe in yourself, and let the success come”, he added.

Family Welfare Officers of the RWO facilitated the presentation of the scholarship’s nature that includes program entitlements, table of offenses, sanctions, etc. Some qualifiers, during the open forum, after learning that the program restricts its recipients to study outside the region, decided to waive their scholarship. After the discussion, a sumptuous meal was enjoyed by the participants followed by the scholarship agreement symbolic signing.
