Gov't working for repatriation of 2 pardoned OFWs in Oman

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is already working for the early repatriation of two overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who have recently been granted royal pardon.

"Nakikipag-ugnayan ang ating pamahalaan sa mga awtoridad sa Oman para sa maagang pagbabalik sa bansa ng dalawa nating kababayan na biniyayaan ng royal pardon," Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in an interview over state-run dzRB.

Coloma said the coordination with Oman authorities is being led by Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman Narciso CastaƱeda.

The DFA has yet to issue the names of the pardoned Filipino workers.

Coloma said that royal pardon was granted to several convicted prisoners as part of Oman's commemoration of Eid'l Al-Mubarak.

He said President Benigno Aquino III is relaying the Philippine government's gratitude to Oman Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said for the OFWs' pardon. —ALG, GMA News
