PHL karate team brings home 4 golds from Thailand Open

The Philippine Typhoons karate team brought home four gold medals, eight silvers, and 12 bronzes from the 2015 Thailand Open in Bangkok last week.

The Philippine national team placed fifth among thirty national teams that competed at the Huamark Indoor Stadium from July 26-30.

"More than 30 countries, and also the Asian champions were there. I see [a] good future if there is more exposure like this," team coach Ali Parvinfar said.

The youngest member of the Typhoons, 10-year-old River Lopez, won a bronze medal in the tournament.  Mav Gonzales/JDS, GMA News
