Pinoys in US pray for PHL as Ruby continues to bring heavy rain

Filipinos in the United States over the weekend gathered to pray for the Philippines as several provinces were ravaged by Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit).

Photos posted by the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. showed the Filipino community there gathering in prayer.

They prayed amid Ruby having made landfall over the weekend and now making its way toward Mindoro.

"Let us keep praying casualties will remain low and damage will be minimal," Ambassador Jose Cuisia Jr. said during the prayer.

Ruby slammed into Eastern Samar and Masbate over the weekend, and may make a third landfall over Mindoro between 6-8 p.m. Monday.

As of Sunday evening, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council confirmed two were killed in Ruby's wake, while 11 provinces experienced power outages. Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
