Pinoy making name in California as 'Designer Daddy'
A Filipino father in Orange Country, California, has been making a name for his creativity in designing fantasy costumes based on Disney characters.
With his American wife Bethanie, Nephi Garcia has designed and made Evil Queen Regina and Alice in Wonderland costumes, among others, for his kids, earning him the moniker "Designer Daddy."
In a report by GMA News' Dano Tingcungco on "Balitanghali" on Monday, Garcia, who is from Bayambang, Pangasinan, said he got the inspiration to design costumes when he visited Disneyland with his kids.
So since then sabi sa akin, 'You have to start an Instagram account para sa kanya.' So that's how Designer Daddy came along," Garcia said.
Soon, Garcia's hobby became his bread and butter, as he was forced to resign from his work to attend to the bulk of orders he's receiving.
The report said Garcia's works have been featured in Fashion Week in Europe and Hollywood, and have graced several fashion websites.
But for Garcia, designing costumes is not just livelihood -- it is also a means to make his kids happy.
—KBK, GMA News
