Nine Pinoys nabbed in Malaysia for using fake identity cards
Nine Filipinos were arrested for allegedly using fake identity cards and keeping identity cards of other individuals in Port Dickson, Malaysia, online reports said.
A report on the Malaysian Digest said the nine Filipinos, together with an Indonesian, pleaded guilty to using fake Malaysian identity cards or MyKads, a multi-purpose smart card issued to every Malaysian citizen.
Albert Kamlun, 25, faces two misdemeanor charges and 42 months in prison. His fellow Filipinos Aminuddin Arsyad, 30, Basil Asrakal, 30, and Arjin Alim, 42, received an 18-month prison sentence.
Their female co-accused Rosalinda Richards, 49, Rosnah Sahibal, 38, Sanida Usman, 39, and Karsom Jahali, 41, were sentenced to 15 months in jail.
An Indonesian woman, Turija Suparto, 39, was given the same sentence.
A report by Malaysian-language website Sayang Sabah said the suspects violated Section 25 of the National Registration Act and Regulations of 1990. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
