PhilHealth assures benefits of affected OFWs in Riyadh


THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has announced that the affected Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the recent accident in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia are assured of their health benefits.
A total of 11 Filipinos were injured including one casualty has been reported when an oil tanker crashed into a freeway flyover triggering an explosion.
PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Eduardo P. Banzon said that "tutulungan ng PhilHealth ang mga kababayan nating Pilipino na naospital sanhi ng aksidenteng ito sa Riyadh."
Affected OFW-members and/or their families are encouraged to file their claim at any local PhilHealth office within 180 days upon discharge of the patient. Documents should include medical records (medical certificate) in English stating the diagnosis, services rendered and date of confinement; and proof of payment such as hospital receipts, statement of account, or discharge summary records. These documents should be accompanied with a request letter duly signed by the member.
PhilHealth will still reimburse benefits due the member even if their employer paid for the total hospital bill subject to the compliance of the above-mentioned documents.
