The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) on Tuesday said around 45 more Filipinos in Ukraine are set to be repatriated as the conflict in the country continues.
“As of last weekend, mga 45 ‘yung napipintong uuwi (around 45 Filipinos are about to return home),” OWWA administrator Hans Cacdac said in a radio interview.
Cacdac added the Philippine government organized the repatriation of half of them, while the rest bought their own tickets earlier.
The OWWA is coordinating with concerned embassies and offices to facilitate the repatriation of the Filipinos affected by the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Russia began its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, prompting the Philippine government to enforce a mandatory repatriation of Filipinos there and a total deployment ban.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on March 7 raised Alert Level 4 in Ukraine due to the deteriorating security situation that threatens the safety of Filipinos there.
