1 of 3 recruiters of Pinoy sex slaves in Malaysia falls

Police operatives arrested before dawn Friday one of at least three recruiters who sent more than 50 Filipino women, many of them minors, to work in Malaysia as sex slaves.

Radio dzRH reported that the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) initially identified the suspect as Gemma Manapsal, 27, of Balintawak, Quezon City.

CIDG operatives said they arrested Manapsal at her house at 2 a.m., after getting information from eight of her victims who returned to the country Thursday night.

Police said they are now tracking down two more recruiters. They did not immediately name them.

The eight sex slaves arrived home with the help of television evangelist Eduardo "Eddie" Villanueva, who lamented that the Philippine embassy in Malaysia refused to help them.

Radio dzBB reported that the eight sex slaves narrated they had to jump from the second floor of their employer's condominium to escape their plight.

According to the girls, some of whom were as young as 17, they were promised jobs in Malaysia as waitresses. Upon arrival in Malaysia, they were turned into sex slaves.

Some of them said they were made to have sex with customers up to eight times a day.

The dzRH report said at least 50 more Filipino girls are still toiling as sex slaves in Malaysia. - GMANews.TV
