Remains of 2 Filipinos killed in Qatar blast arrive in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - The remains of two Filipino bomb technicians in Qatar who died in an explosion earlier this week arrived in the Philippines Friday afternoon, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.

Eldred Canuto Brinas, 51, of Iriga City, and Ramon Olano Espiritu, 52, of Camarines Sur, arrived in Manila via Qatar Airways QR646.

Brinas and Espiritu were working for the interior ministry of Qatar.

Earlier, Philippine ambassador to Qatar Isaias Begonia reported that Brinas and Espiritu died on April 28 from injuries they sustained while disposing confiscated explosive materials believed to be firecrackers in the municipality of Dukhan, Qatar.
