DFA: No consular services in NCR from Nov. 17-20 due to APEC meet
There will be no consular services in Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) from November 17 to 20 due to activities related to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting.
In a statement Thursday, the DFA said the Office of Consular Affairs and all its field or satellite offices in the NCR will not process passports, authentication, consular civil registration, and other related services.
President Benigno Aquino III has declared Nov. 18 and 19 as non-working holidays in connection with the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, which is expected to be attended by over 20 world leaders, including US President Barack Obama.
According to the DFA, only emergency consular needs such as death of a family member overseas, urgent medical procedures to be done overseas, and urgent contractual obligations overseas will be processed.
Persons covered by the stipulations above may proceed to NCR-South (Metro Alabang) on the 17th, NCR-Northeast (Ali Mall) on the 18th, NCR-Central (Robinsns Galleria) on the 19th, and NCR-East (SM Megamall) on the 20th.
Normal operations will resume on the 21st. Inquiries may still be sent to passportconcerns@dfa.gov.ph, authentication.verification@dga.gov.ph, and atn.unofficial@gmail.com. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
