Bongbong leads partial count of overseas votes for VP
Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is leading in the partial count of overseas votes for vice president.
On Friday, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said Marcos has garnered 156,123 votes, while his closest rival, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, got 84,144 votes.
Per overseas votes, Marcos leads by nearly 73,000 votes.
The Comelec is waiting for the remaining results, which will be from Tel Aviv in Israel, Rome, and Bahrain.
According to the partial and unofficial count on the Comelec-GMA Mirror Server, Robredo is on top of the race overall with 14,007,470 votes as of 4:45 p.m.
Marcos Jr. is at a close second, with 13,782,179 votes.
The poll body has highlighted the importance of more than 429,000 votes from overseas Filipinos in light with Robredo and Marcos' race.
A total of 1,386,087 Filipinos signed up for overseas voting. While the Comelec did not meet the 80-percent target turnout, it still considers the numbers for registration and actual voting "record-breaking."
"This is important because you have to understand, we are looking at more than 400,000 votes from overseas and the leads of the candidates are very small," Jimenez said. "Considering nga na 400,000 votes ang ine-expect natin, malinaw na malinaw na magiging relevant 'yung bilang sa overseas [voting]." — RSJ, GMA News
