Madrigal Singers back in PHL from European concert tour
The Philippine Madrigal Singers are now back in the Philippines after winning the grand prize at the 64th International Choral Competition in Arezzo, Italy, Unang Balita reported on Wednesday.
The group arrived in Manila on Tuesday afternoon.
Upon their arrival at the Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the Madz, as they are also known, rendered the song "Iisang Bangka" to the delight of the crowd, GMA News' Athena Imperial reported.
Joey Vargas of the Philippine Madrigal Singers said they are grateful for the Filipinos' support."Matindi ang boost talaga sa amin ng mga taong nagpapadala ng messages," he said.The other choirs in the competition appreciated the group's talent, the members said."I think the Filipinos are more of the heart... We really mean what we sing," Vargas added.The Madz is scheduled to compete next at the European Grand Prix in 2017 to be held in Tolosa, Spain. The group will be up against five other choirs.Menwhile, the Cultural Center of the Philippines is preparing for the upcoming concert of the Madz."Magkakaroon ng special concert ... on October 8... This is also to be the start of their fund-raising," Chris Millado, CCP vice-president and artistic director, said. —KG, GMA News
