Opposition to Trump immigration policy reaches Pinoys in HK
Hong Kong — OFWs here have joined worldwide condemnation to US President Donald Trump's order to restrict immigration in the US by participating a protest rally on Sunday.
Shouting "no bans, no walls", "US imperialist, number one terrorist", and "no human is illegal," more than 100 protesters held a program at the Chater Garden in Central before marching to the US Consulate.
Eni Lestari of the International Migrants Alliance said Trump's executive orders and pronouncements are only fanning the flames of anti-Islamism, racial hate, ostracism, and bigotry that are fast spreading throughout America.
"By alluding to those believing in Islam as possible terrorists, Trump justifies racism and his actions encouraging more racial conflict and divide," Lestari said. "He brings the 'with us or against us' mantra of George W. Bush presidency, a presidency known for waging the war of invasion on Iraq."
The Filipinos were joined by Hong Kong lawmaker Leung Kwok-hung. —KBK, GMA News
