Gabriela to Duterte: Include UAE in Middle East trip, save OFW Dalquez from death row

The Gabriela party-list on Monday urged President Rodrigo Duterte include United Arab Emirates in his official itinerary for his week-long Middle East visit to save Filipina worker Jennifer Dalquez from the death row.
"As President Duterte embarks on his Middle East trip today, we urge him to exhaust all measures to save OFW (overseas Filipino worker) Jennifer Dalquez from the death row in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)," the women's group said in a statement.
"We hope that the President will have time to visit UAE and personally seek dialogue with authorities there, as UAE is not on his official itinerary," it added.
Duterte is scheduled to leave the country for his Middle East trip in the afternoon.
MalacaƱang said Duterte will visit Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar from April 10 to 16.
Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Hjayceelyn Quintana said Duterte will raise the pressing concerns of OFWs to the leaders of the three Middle East countries during his trip.
Last month, the UAE's Court of Appeals deferred the decision on the case of Dalquez, who is on the death row for killing her employer in 2014.
Gabriela said in its statement that it had filed a resolution in the House of Representatives seeking executive clemency for Dalquez.
"We join the clamor of different groups in pushing the  #SaveJenniferDalquez campaign, and are coordinating with Migrante International in an effort to amplify the call," it said.
The women's group said Dalquez "accidentally killed her boss after the latter attempted to rape her." —ALG, GMA News
