Quebec police confirm body found in river that of Pinoy sailor

Quebec provincial police confirmed that the body found in the St. Lawrence River in October was Filipino sailor Jeyson Berbante, according to a report on Splash 24/7.
Surete du Quebec Sgt. Eloise Cossette said DNA tests on the body found on October 7 confirmed that it was 23-year-old Berbante, whose cause of death remains unknown.
CTV News reported in September that Berbante disappeared from the cargo ship Amazoneborg while the ship was docked near the port of Trois-Rivieres.
Berbante was supposedly checking the draft of the ship owned by Dutch international transportation company Royal Wagenborg before he disappeared.
Sgt. Thibodeau said in September that they are considering all hypothesis for his disappearance, though Trois-Rivieres port spokesperson Virginie Deschambeault said Berbante likely fell into the water while carrying out his tasks.
Berbante went unnamed until police confirmed his identity on Saturday (Canada time). —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
