5,000 hotel jobs in Israel may soon be open to Filipinos — DOLE
There may soon be 5,000 openings for Filipino hotel workers in Israel, the Department of Labor said Tuesday.
A report by JP Soriano on Balitanghali said that Israel has expressed a preference for Filipinos to fill these job positions.
There are no job orders or guidelines yet, but Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III expects these to be ironed out in November.
"The pay is always very good. You know naman that our caregivers are receiving $1,350 to $2,000 a month…Probably [the hotel workers] will have the same emoluments," he said.
Certificates from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) are among the requirements for applicants who want to enter the hotel and restaurant industry.
Gerson Hernandez, an HRM Tesda student, said that the training is hard, “pero kung gusto mo, kayang-kaya naman po,” he said. He also mentioned that he wants to work abroad because of the good compensation.
According to the labor department, Japan and Germany have also opened jobs for Filipino workers.
Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda said through the residency status the country is planning to offer, more skilled foreign workers will be able to get job opportunities in his country next year.
“In order to accept more foreign workers in Japan, we will create a new residency status for foreign workers with a certain level of expertise or skill from next year,” he said during his speech at the 44th Philippine Business Conference at the Manila Hotel Friday.
For additional information regarding these jobs, the labor department said interested applicants should wait for their advisory.
The labor department also warned applicants against illegal recruiters, urging them to visit the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration’s website to check if a job order is legitimate before they apply. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
