Family seeks investigation into OFW's death in Abu Dhabi

The family of undocumented overseas Filipino worker Mary Jean Alberto called for an immediate investigation into her death while working in Abu Dhabi, the Cordillera Peoples Alliance said in a Friday statement.
According to Alberto's cousin, Windel Bolinget, they received news of her death on October 4 through Facebook.
She was allegedly killed by her Morocan employer on October 2, and her body was at the Sheik Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
"Ayon sa text message mula sa isa sa mga anak ni Mary Jean, ‘Hinulog si Mary Jean mula sa 13th floor at ang katawan ay nasa hindi makatarungang estado. Maaring rason para mahirapan silang alamin at suriin ang cause of death," Bolinget said.
While there were numerous ways Alberto could have died, the family thought it unlikely that she took her own life.
Alberto had also allegedly told her sister that she had been threatened and that she was being abused.
“Nagpapanawagan kami ng impartial investigation para lumitaw ang katotohanan at hindi cover-up na palalabasing suicide; panagutin ang among pumatay o sinumang nagkasala (bitayin o ikulong); sagutin ang lahat ng repatriation at burial expenses," said Bolinget. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
