The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is ready to provide financial assistance to families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) affected by the recent earthquakes in Mindanao.
“We will help OFW families gravely affected by the earthquakes. We are just determining the number of OFW families affected,” OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac said
“P3,000 cash assistance for active members’ families in worst hit areas,” he added.
According to Cacdac, covered areas will still be subject to final determination in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Tulanan, Cotabato on Oct. 31, just two days after a powerful tremor that killed eight people and hurt hundreds of others in the region.
Last Oct. 16, a magnitude 6.3 also hit North Cotabato.
The powerful tremors killed a number of people and injured several others. Thousands were also displaced by the earthquakes.
