OFW FROM TIGBAUAN DIES IN KUWAIT

ILOILO City – A 33-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Kuwait fell from the third floor of the apartment building where she was working. She died.
According to the OFW’s mother, their family was convinced she jumped to her death – that this was a case of suicide and there was no foul play.
The OFW was a native of Tigbauan, Iloilo.
It was the OFW’s employers who contacted the family about the Nov. 1 incident through Facebook Messenger on Nov. 2, according to the mother. (The family requested that their privacy be respected. Panay News is thus withholding their identities. — Ed.)
The employer brought the OFW to the nearest hospital but the Ilongga nanny died while being transported, said the mother.
Days before the Nov. 1 incident, said the mother, her daughter was unusually silent and constantly stared blankly, citing the statements of the employer.
“Sa employer wala problema. Buot employer na,” said the mother.
The OFW took a short vacation home just this August, said the mother, and her daughter had not mentioned any problem at work.
The family believed the OFW, a single mother who had a boyfriend, had personal problems she could no longer handle.
“Kon magpadala ang bata sa amon sang kwarta, maakig ang lalaki kay gusto ya para sa pangabuhian lang nila kon mag-asawahay na,” said the mother.
The OFW had a six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Her parents were taking care of the little girl.
The employer promised to facilitate the repatriation of the OFW’s body, said the mother.
The family also sought the help of the Department of Foreign Affairs – Consular Office in Iloilo yesterday./PN
