3 Pinoys pass quarantine in HK, return to work

HONG KONG - Three Filipino who were placed under 14-day quarantine for having contact with persons who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been released, the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong said Monday.
The consulate said a total of 7 Filipinos in Hong Kong have been placed under quarantine. Of this figure, 3 have been released after undergoing the 14-day mandatory quarantine and have since returned to their respective places of employment. Most of the Filipinos are domestic workers, the consulate said.
"The remaining 4 Filipinos currently under quarantine remain healthy and asymptomatic," Consul General Raly Tejada said.
"No new case has been reported to Post as of this time. It should be noted that no Filipino has tested positive for COVID-19 in HK."
Hong Kong has 57 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 1 fatality, and is monitoring 136 persons for suspected infection, according to its Department of Health's Center for Health Protection.

STAR / Michael Varcas MANILA, Philippines — While Chinese vessels in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) have decreased in number, they have maintained a presence in three key land features where naval and coast guard ships have intensified operations in the past seven days, according to the Philippine Navy. MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) sees social media as the main reason for the rising number of Filipinos marrying or becoming partners of foreign nationals. In 2022, the CFO recorded 6,854 marriages or partnerships with foreign nationals, a 40.1 percent increase from the 4,891 “intermarriages” recorded in 2021. “First of all, what we see in the increase in the marriage rate of Filipinos or Filipinos with foreign partners is because of social media, (that) is number one; matchings; letters, introduction of their friends,” CFO chairperson Romulo Arugay said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing yesterday.
