The KAPISANAN NG MGA KAMAG-ANAK AT MIGRANTENG MANGGAGAWANG PILIPINO, INC. (KAKAMMPI) is a community-based organization composed of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWS), migrant returnees and their families & relatives. Formed in 1983, it has grown into a multi-faceted organization with local chapters and networks.
KAKAMMPI was organized to protect the rights and welfare of overseas Filipinos and their families, and to effectively respond to the growing problems of labor migration in the country. It aims to achieve its vision by implementing integrated programs that strengthen family support system that facilitates empowerment and economic stability.
KAKAMMPI engages in national and international advocacy and development works for the empowerment of the migrant sector. It anchors weekly radio program on labor migration, implements an assistance program for distressed migrant workers and family members. It operates child care and development centers, provides scholarships, skills and leadership training for the children, women and youth sectors. It also conducts counseling especially for women and the youth, and holds regular medical missions in depressed communities. Skills training and income generating projects are also conducted to broaden options for livelihood engagement of family members and returning migrant workers.
KAKAMMPIONLINE (a TV-internet radio program) is KAKAMMPI’s own media outfit, using the latest technology such as podcast, webcast and streaming video/audio. This is now the trend on information dissemination in reaching millions or even billions of audience worldwide. We’ve grabbed the opportunity of using this technology to get through everyone whenever and wherever they are.
OUR PROGRAM:
Advocacy and Networking. This program strengthens linkages and maintains the partnership of KAKAMMPI with its current local partners.
KAKAMMPI actively engages in information dissemination campaigns that address and respond to abuses, violations and discriminations committed against Overseas Filipino Workers and their families.
Counseling. KAKAMMPI provides psycho-social counseling to distressed Filipino migrants and their families.
Welfare Assistance. KAKAMMPI assists in money claims and repatriation of on-site and returning OFWs, and provides airport assistance upon arrival to either deceased or distressed OFWs.
Homecare. KAKAMMPI provides temporary shelter to distressed Overseas Filipino Workers and their families. It likewise attends to its physical, psychological and psycho-social needs.
HISTORY AND PROFILE
KAKAMMPI is an organization of Overseas Filipino Workers, migrant returnees, and their families. It was established in 1983, and developed into a multi-faceted organization with local chapters in Metro Manila and adjacent provinces such as Rizal, Pampanga, Zambales, Pangasinan, Bataan, Ifugao, Benguet, Bicol, Cagayan, Tarlac, Tacloban, Iloilo, Cebu and Zamboanga.
KAKAMMPI was formed to protect the rights and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers and their families, and to effectively respond to the growing problems of labor migration in the country. It aims to achieve its vision by implementing integrated programs that strengthen family support system that facilitates empowerment.
KAKAMMPI is an active member of eight national and two international networks. It maintains partnership with fifty migrant NGOs, GOs, support groups and advocates worldwide.
