Fil-Australian charged in killing of Pinay in Melbourne
An Australian national of Filipino ancestry has been charged for killing Luvina Dayang, a Filipino woman whose battered body was found wrapped in a garbage bag in Springvale, Melbourne last December.
Dayang, who left her husband and five children in the Philippines, worked as a cleaner in Sydney.
She traveled to Melbourne by bus two days before her body was found dumped in the frontyard of a house on View Road in Springvale. She was on a tourist visa since 2006.
Australia’s Herald Sun reported on Monday that 43-year-old Dinilo Miranda Guingab of Point Cook has been arrested and presented in court later in the day.
Detectives from Victoria and investigators from the Australian Federal Police traveled to the Philippines last month and interviewed members of Dayang’s family.
The 50-year-old Dayang had been assaulted and police believe she was murdered close to where her body was dumped at View Road on December 12.
She was last seen on December 11, and police believe she was murdered late that night, or early in the following morning. - GMANews.TV
