DFA spokesman, 7 other envoys get CA nod

The bicameral Commission on Appointments (CA) on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of seven of the country's ambassadors.

Among those who got the CA's nod was Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesman Raul Hernandez, who also serves as Philippine Ambassador to South Korea.

Also confirmed by the CA were:

  • Petronila Garcia, Ambassador to Canada;
  • Lamberto Monsanto, Ambassador to Kuwait;
  • Ma. Amelita Aquino, Ambassador to Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay;
  • Antonio Morales, Ambassador to Singapore;
  • Joseph Gerard Angeles, Ambassador to South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho,
  • Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe; and
  • Bayani Mangibin, Ambassador to Kenya, Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somali, Tanzania and Uganda.

Virgilio Reyes Jr., Ambassador to Italy, San Marino, and Albania, was also confirmed. the southern European country of Malta was included in his jurisdiction.

Eighty-seven other foreign service officers, career ministers and chiefs-of-mission were also confirmed by the CA during the day's plenary session. — Andreo Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
