Emotional parting of young girl, OFW father in Davao airport

A video showing a five-year-old girl crying and clinging to her father who is a departing OFW at the Davao International Airport has gone viral on Facebook.
Posted on November 12 by Icar Yves Buchorno Perdido, the kid's mother, the video has been viewed 8.6 million times, shared over 200,000 times, and liked by over 239,000 Facebook users as of posting time.

A report by GMA News' Steve Dailisan on "24 Oras" on Tuesday said the kid's father was returning to Maldives where he works as an assistant manager in a restaurant.
"This is one of the social cost ng labor migration," said Dr. Virgel C. Binghay, a sociologist in UP SOLAIR. "Isa na dito yung deprivation of the kid ng presence ng kaniyang in this case father."
"They become strangers to one another and that is very deplorable," he said.
Mrs. Perdido, in the report, said her children, including Ayn, the kid in the video, have since recovered from their father's departure, thanks to their frequent conversations through the internet.
"Kahit na malayo na yung daddy nila, consistent yung video chat namin, yung video call. Lagi siyang tumatawag dito sa amin," she said. —KBK, GMA News
