Two Pinoy sailors die of asphyxiation on board India-bound ship

Two Filipino sailors died of asphyxiation while on board their ship en route to Gangavaram Port in Visakhapatnam in India, according to a report on The Hans India.
Jamisola Antonio Idulfa and Cejudo Gerard Centino were found dead inside the coal compartment of MV Iolocs Genesis on June 2, several days after it set sail from Singapore.
Gangavaram Port's spokesperson said Idulfa immediately died from inhaling poisonous gases when he entered the ship's coal cabin to determine the coal heat. Centino entered the coal cabin to save Idulfa but died in the attempt.
Authorities were informed of their deaths by MV Iolocs Genesis in advance before its arrival at Gangavaram Port.
separate report on Deccan Chronicle said the sailors' bodied were sent to Singapore last Wednesday after their autopsies. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
