China offers PHL, 58 other countries 30-day visa free travel to Hainan


China on Wednesday offered the Philippines and 58 other countries visa-free access to Hainan island in an effort to support a policy to open up the tourist island to the public.
The Ministry of Public Security of China and the State Immigration Administration announced that the offer will be implemented beginning May 1.
Under the new policy, individuals and groups from 59 countries may visit the province for 30 visa-free days as long as their tours are booked through China National Tourism Administration-approved travel agencies around Hainan.
Heavily promoted by the ministry is Sanya, the southernmost city of Hainan, nicknamed the "Hawaii of China."
The countries given visa-free access to Hainan include:
