Eight overseas Filipino workers in Hong Kong were fined for allegedly foregoing social distancing protocols at the Central District last August 9.
According to a report on “24 Oras” on Monday, the OFWs were fined 2,000 Hong Kong dollars each or almost P13,000.
About 50 police officers came to Chater Road and Statue Square and told the OFWs to go back to their employers immediately.
A leader of an OFW group in Hong Kong, however, argued that fining them was not the right action in fighting the virus.
She said OFWs were just taking their time to unwind as they were not allowed by their employers to go out from Monday to Saturday. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
