Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 9,725 —DFA

Fifteen more Filipinos abroad have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 9,725, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The DFA also announced that the total recoveries rose to 5,760 after four patients recovered from the illness while the death toll increased to 708 with five new fatalities.
"Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from COVID-19 as of today slightly increased to 59.23 percent of the total confirmed cases,” the DFA said.
"[T]hose who are under treatment decreased to 33.49 percent. Meanwhile, the percentage of those who died due to the disease remained at 7 percent,” it added.
As of August 8, there are 3,257 patients undergoing treatment.
According to data from the DFA, there are a total of 988 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region with 299 patients undergoing treatment, 681 recoveries, and eight fatalities.
Meanwhile, there are 6,832 cases in the Middle East or Africa. Of this, 2,317 patients are undergoing treatment, 4,085 have recovered, and 430 have succumbed to the disease.
In Europe, there are a total of 1,143 COVID-19 cases with 501 patients undergoing treatment, 547 recoveries, and 95 fatalities.
No new cases were, meanwhile, reported in the Americas with the total case count remaining at 762, patients undergoing treatment at 140, recoveries at 447, and fatalities at 175. -MDM, GMA News
