DFA: 58 more Pinoys abroad recover from COVID-19 as cases rise to 9,983

Fifty-eight more Filipinos abroad have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019, bringing the total of those who have recovered to 5,927, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Saturday.
But the DFA also said that the total case count also rose to 9,983 with eight new confirmed infections, while the death toll remained at 733.
“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from COVID-19 increased slightly to 59.37 percent of the total confirmed cases,” it said.
“[T]hose who are under treatment saw a slight decrease to 33.62%. Meanwhile, the percentage of fatalities among COVID-19-affected Filipinos abroad remains at seven percent,” it added.
At present, there are 3,323 patients still undergoing treatment.
Data from the DFA showed a total of 1,106 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region. Among this, there are a total of 368 patients undergoing treatment, 730 recoveries, and eight fatalities.
Meanwhile, the Middle East or Africa has reported a total of 6,927 cases with 2,350 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 4,125 patients in the region have recovered while 452 have succumbed to the illness.
In Europe, there are a total of 1,158 confirmed cases with 445 patients undergoing treatment, 618 recoveries, and 95 fatalities.
The Americas has reported a total of 792 COVID-19 cases with 160 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries in the region were recorded at 454 and fatalities at 178. —LBG, GMA News
