DFA: 40 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19; total at 10,507

Published September 29, 2020 5:38pm The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 10,507 on Tuesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported 40 new infections. Fifty-one more have also recovered from the illness, bringing the total tally of recoveries to 6,727, while the death toll remained at 792. At present, there are 2,988 patients still undergoing treatment. Data from the DFA showed that there are 1,403 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region. Among this, 340 are patients undergoing treatment, 1,055 have recovered, and eight have died. Meanwhile, there are a total of 7,097 cases recorded in the Middle East or Africa with 2,316 patients undergoing treatment. The region has reported 4,270 recoveries and 511 fatalities. In Europe, there are 1,198 cases with 165 patients still undergoing treatment. A total of 938 patients in the region have recovered while 95 have succumbed to the illness. The Americas have, meanwhile, reported a total of 809 cases with 167 patients undergoing treatment, 464 recoveries, and 178 fatalities. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
