DFA: Filipino COVID-19 fatalities abroad now 800

The number of Filipinos abroad who have succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reached the 800 mark on Wednesday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported one new fatality.
According to the DFA, six more nationals have tested positive for the illness, bringing the total to 10,849, while two new recoveries brought the total to 6,905.
Meanwhile, there are 3,144 patients are still undergoing treatment.
“To date, the total number of countries and regions with confirmed cases among Filipinos is now 80, with a new report from an additional country in the Middle East,” the DFA said.
Data from the DFA showed a total of 1,708 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 499 patients still undergoing treatment. The region has recorded 1,200 recoveries and nine fatalities.
In Europe, there were a total of 1,201 cases recorded with 167 patients still undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities were recorded at 939 and 95, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Americas has reported a total of 810 cases. Among this, 166 are patients undergoing treatment, 466 have recovered, and 178 have died. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
