Marcos to attend Charles III coronation --- Alexis Romero - The Philippine Star

Marcos to attend Charles III coronation MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos will travel to London to witness the coronation of Britain’s King Charles III on May 6, an online report quoted Ambassador to the United Kingdom Teodoro Locsin Jr. as saying yesterday. “When I saw him in the wake of (former trade chief) Bobby Ongpin, he said: ‘Teddy Boy, I’m coming in but we have to leave at once because we have to catch the (Association of Southeast Asian Nations).’ He is going to be here,” Locsin was quoted by an online article of ABS-CBN News as saying. Malacañang has yet to respond to media queries about Marcos’ attendance at the coronation, which will be held in Westminster Abbey. The ASEAN Summit, meanwhile, will take place in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara on May 9 to 11. The online article quoted Locsin as saying that Charles III and Marcos know each other because they used to play polo together. The Philippine ambassador won’t be at the coronation because only the President and the President’s spouse were invited, the report added. Charles III will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort, in a ceremony to be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and witnessed by several world leaders and prominent figures. In a recent statement, Buckingham Palace said the coronation would “reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.” Charles III was proclaimed king two days after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II last September.
