Filipino construction worker crushed to death in Malaysia
MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino worker on Saturday was crushed to death by a one-ton iron bucket while working at a construction site in Malaysia, an online report said.
The Daily Express reported that 40-year old Abd Basir Jalaun died instantly after the iron bucket used for pouring cement fell on him at about 5 p.m. on Saturday while working at a construction site in Sepanggar, a sub-district of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah state.
City Police chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria told the Peninsula that the hook holding the bucket to the crane snapped, sending the bucket with wet cement toward Jalaun.
“The deceased died of severe head injury," he said in the report.
The victim’s body was brought to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah for a post-mortem examination although police reportedly do not suspect any foul play. - Kimberly Jane T. Tan, GMANews.TV
