Jobs abroad still open to Pinoy workers--DOLE

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said that half a million jobs worldwide are available to Filipino workers.
DOLE Secretary Marianito Roque said that many foreign companies prefer to hire Filipino workers.
Reports said the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has received jobs orders from various countries.
Around 5,000 Filipino overseas workers have been displaced by the global economic crisis. Majority of the displaced workers were employed in Taiwan.
The DOLE chief said the challenge now is finding qualified workers to match the needed jobs.
He said that the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) have been given additional budget to identify and provide the needed training to Filipino workers.
He added that most of the job openings available to Filipino workers are in the Middle East, particularly in the construction, oil and gas sectors.
