2 Pinays win major awards in Middle East
Two Filipinas were recognized for their outstanding work as leaders in the IT and hospitality sectors by prestigious award-giving bodies in the Middle East, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday.
Irene Corpuz was hailed as one of the Top 100 security leaders at the Middle East Security Awards - CISO 100 Awards on May 24, while Marie Loreles Gregorio was named Restaurant Manager of the Year at the Caterer Middle East Awards 2016 on June 1.
Abu Dhabi-based Corpuz is the current Head of IT Security Section at the Western Region Municipality and was nominated for the Stevie Awards for Women in Business in 2013.
Gregorio, who started her career in hospitality in 2003 at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, manages Thiptara Restaurant and Fai Lounge at The Palace Downtown Dubai.
An article on HotelierMiddleEast.com said Gregorio leads "a solid team of professionals while successfully implementing various activations that have enhanced the guest experience, reduced costs and increased revenue."
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. said that through hard work and dedication, the two became the "epitome of strong, dynamic and successful Filipinas overseas" in their respective fields.
"We hope that they serve as an inspiration to fellow Filipinos working not only in the region, but anywhere in the world,” Vingno said in a statement.
