DFA: No report of Pinoys affected in Taiwan train blast

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday said there have been no reports of Filipinos injured in an explosion on a train in Taipei, Taiwan on Thursday night.
In a text message, DFA spokesman Charles Jose said: "Wala rin tayong natatanggap na ulat na may kabilang na Pilipino sa mga casualties sa nangyaring pagsabog."
At least 24 people were injured in the said explosion, which happened around 10 p.m. Thursday. 
The blast caused a small fire and cut power inside the carriage as the train was pulling into a station at the capital, an Agence France-Presse report said.
It quoted Taiwan's premier Lin Chuan as saying that the bombing seemed to have been done by someone "with a malicious intent," adding that the case will be investigated on.
Eyewitnesses were quoted as saying they had seen a man carry a black rectangle-shaped object onto the train. Authorities were revieving surveillance footage to identify him.

STAR / Michael Varcas MANILA, Philippines — While Chinese vessels in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) have decreased in number, they have maintained a presence in three key land features where naval and coast guard ships have intensified operations in the past seven days, according to the Philippine Navy. MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) sees social media as the main reason for the rising number of Filipinos marrying or becoming partners of foreign nationals. In 2022, the CFO recorded 6,854 marriages or partnerships with foreign nationals, a 40.1 percent increase from the 4,891 “intermarriages” recorded in 2021. “First of all, what we see in the increase in the marriage rate of Filipinos or Filipinos with foreign partners is because of social media, (that) is number one; matchings; letters, introduction of their friends,” CFO chairperson Romulo Arugay said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing yesterday.
