Pinay chef in Thailand carves Duterte portrait on watermelon
From burgers to toys, to coffee and T-shirts, people have made all sorts of merchandise and tributes to celebrate the inauguration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Chef Jang Melgar Grageda, the "celebrity chef of Albay," was not spared from Dutertemania as she carved a watermelon to resemble the face of the Philippines' 16th president at a beach in Thailand.
Balitanghali on Tuesday featured the winsome watermelon, which bears the strong facial lines and features of the former Davao City mayor on the greens of the fruit's husk.
The report said Grageda carved Duterte's image to welcome and congratulate the Philippines' newest president days after he was sworn into office.
Tourists were impressed with the unique portrait of Duterte, whose strong approach to leadership with a focus on anti-crime drive has been featured in foreign news sites such as The Guardian, Al Jazeera, and the Independent.
