Body of Pinay killed in Abu Dhabi arrives home

MANILA, Philippines – The body of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who allegedly jumped off the eight floor of a bank in Abu Dhabi arrived in Manila on Monday.

A radio report said that the OFW was identified as one Maria Victoria Vergara, whose body was flown to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City around Monday noon.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of Migrant Affairs quoted the Abu Dhabi police as saying that Vergara reportedly died after leaping from an eight-storey high window of the Standard Chartered Bank.

The report also quoted the DFA as saying that the OFW’s employer was identified as one Talik Ali. It was not immediately known if the victim’s employer works for or is a client of the said London-headquartered bank.

The body is still currently in the custody of the NAIA, even as airport officials said the relatives of Vergara would first have to complete necessary requirements before they could claim the body of their loved one. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
