Pinay in Macau who lost money in gambling arrested over bogus robbery claim

A Filipina was arrested last week for reporting a fake robbery after she lost $1,311 or 10,500 patacas while gambling at a casino in Macau, according to an Asia Times report.
The report, citing Journal Do Cidadao, stated that the 36-year-old Filipino domestic worker initially reported being mugged by three men in Macau to police last Friday.
Police suspected that the woman was fabricating her claims because of her conflicting statements. When pressed, she admitted to making up the story.
The woman told police that she faked the report due to fears of admonishment from her family in the Philippines, the intended recipient of the $1,311 she lost while gambling.
Local newspaper Tai Chung Pou reported that the Filipina was arrested for suspected crime simulation. Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
