Analyst’s take on Saudi policy restricting 12 retail jobs to its nationals

GMA News resident analyst Richard Heydarian on Thursday gave his insights on the effects on overseas Filipinos workers in the Middle East of Saudi Arabia's recent decision to restrict 12 retail jobs to its nationals, still as part of its Saudization policy.
Since last year, hundreds of OFWs have lost their jobs and have been forced to return to the Philippines due to Saudi's nationalization policy.
Among the retail jobs that would soon become exclusive to Saudi nationals are:
  • watches
  • eyewear
  • medical equipment and devices
  • electrical and elctronic appliances
  • auto parts
  • building materials
  • carpets
  • cars and motorcycles
  • home and office furniture
  • children's cloting and men's accessories
  • home kitchenware
  • confectioneries
